Masala Chai Recipe

Whole Spice Kitchen Masala Chai

A warming blend of black tea, milk, and aromatic spices, simmered together for a comforting cup.

Makes: 2 servings
Time: About 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons Whole Spice Kitchen Chai Masala
  • 2–3 slices fresh ginger, optional
  • 2 teaspoons Whole Spice Kitchen Assam Black Tea
  • 1 cup milk, or your preferred plant-based milk
  • 2 teaspoons sugar, or to taste

Method

  1. Add the water, Whole Spice Kitchen Chai Masala, and optional fresh ginger to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Add Whole Spice Kitchen Assam Black Tea and simmer gently for 2 minutes. Simmer longer for a stronger cup.
  3. Add the milk and sugar. Bring to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat until the foam subsides. Repeat 2–3 times. Return to a gentle simmer for 3–4 minutes, until the desired color is achieved. Watch carefully so the milk does not boil over.
  4. Strain into two cups, serve hot, and enjoy!

Make it your own

For stronger chai, add a little more tea. Adjust the sugar to taste. If using plant-based milk, keep the heat gentle and avoid a vigorous boil.
