How to Use Your Recipe Starters

Choose
Recipe StartersChoose your Recipe Starter in our shop. Search by main ingredient, diet, meal type or cooking method. Note which recipes include marination time so you can plan ahead. If your Recipe Starter includes rice, beans or lentils plan ahead for washing and soaking.

Shop
Look at the back of the package or online product page to find the list of ingredients you'll need at home. This typically includes cooking oil or ghee, fresh ginger, garlic, and cilantro in addition to fresh vegetables or lean meat, depending on your selection.

Prepare
Prepare your fresh ingredients. This can often be done ahead time. Frozen vegetables, and pre-chopped onions are great timesavers.

Cook
Follow the detailed instructions. We recommend reading through the instructions first. Pay particular attention to any ingredients that need to be washed or soaked ahead of time.

Enjoy
Serve according to recipe instructions. Chaptis (Indian flatbread), pita bread or naan are perfect to serve with vegetable dishes. Lentils and bean dishes pair well with Basmati rice.

What would a Recipe Starter be without, well, a recipe? Our's go beyond basic instructions printed on our package. Instead, they're included inside; a full page of detailed, precise and informative instructions, so you can be confident in your cooking.
Lots of Options
Vegetarian? Vegan? Also got a meat-eater in the house? Is plant-based protein your jam? We hear you and we've got you covered. We have a wide selection of vegetable-focused, plant-based, and meat and poultry Recipe Starters in the works.
Currently, we offer two Lentil and Bean Starters, two Vegetable Starters and one Poultry Starter. We're busy testing more recipes so stay tuned for more!
Fresh whole and ground spices
We source the highest quality fresh whole spices, roast and grind them, and package them in pre-measured quantities customized to each recipe. Think whole cumin, cloves, cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods, freshly roasted and ground coriander.
Secret Spice Blends (shhh!)
These are the spice combinations we've used in our own kitchen for years. They are tried and true and certain to give you stellar results. Think of them as your own secret sauce.
Lentils and Beans
Brilliant orange split red lentils, plump garbanzo beans, wholesome black eyed peas are included in our Lentil and Bean Recipe Starters.
Long Grain Indian Basmati Rice
Where indicated, our Recipe Starters include traditional Basmati rice. It pairs perfectly with our dishes, and gives you one less thing to shop for. Prefer cauliflower or brown rice? Our recipes work well with those too.

Anything Processed
Because who wants that when its this easy to make fresh, whole food-based dishes at home?
Preservatives
Everything in our Starters is shelf stable. We do not use preservatives.
Simmer Sauces
Because they can't match the flavor of freshly made.
Anything Pre-Cooked
Because nothing beats freshly cooked food.
